My First Tour by Triumph (Copy)

Trip to Nepal

After my trip to Odissa in the year 2021 now I was planning for my next trip for the next year. By this time my bike classic 500 had covered more than 85000 kilometers. I was planning to upgrade my bike for some time. I had purchased another bike Royal Enfield Interceptor 650. It was a very nice bike, but I found this bike not for long tours that too with luggage. In the year 2022 I opted to buy Triumph Bonneville T120. It is a 1200 cc bike and its body frame is very much similar to Royal Enfield Classic 500. During this year the process to conduct general election was going on. In this process I was put to duty of General Observer and was allotted the Hardoi constituency. It is a district of Utter Pradesh State of India. After the polling was over there was some time for counting of votes. During this break I came to Chandigarh and finalized the plan to buy Triumph. The paper work with the dealership was complete but the bike was to be delivered in another one or two days. Next day I was to go back to Hardoi for counting of votes. When I was away to Hardoi, the delivery of my bike was taken by My Wife Dr. Deepti Prashar. On my return from Hardoi to Home, my bike was waiting for me

. I was quite excited to own it. To my surprise I could not handle the bike for the first 1500 kilometers. I was also not familiar with the engine and other parts of it. During the first service of it, it may be said that I took tutorial from the supervisor how to handle it in case of an emergency. Now I could handle the bike quite comfortably. Now I was looking for a good luggage carrier. I explored market in its search but could not find any suitable thing. To my utter surprise when I tested my luggage carrier that I used for Classic 500 bike, it fitted as if it was made for my triumph. Since then, I am using it.

Now I was planning for a trip as I was very much excited after purchasing my new Triumph. Firstly I rode that Bike within city. One day I rode it up to Kufri. Both times, I was not feeling confident while riding this Bike. Actually I was afraid if anything happens to this Bike, how would I be able to manage that, what tools I would be requiring? With these few queries in my mind I consulted the supervisor of dealership. He advised me to procure some specific tools for it. I bought those tools. With imagination, if my rear tyre got punctured how to remove the tyre. I tried it at home re fix the tyre and separated the required tools. Likewise I tried it with the front tyre. Now I was quite confident how to manage the things. Honestly speaking I was not able to control this Bike till I rode it for fifteen hundred kilometres. I want to write that if someone does not know basics of his or her vehicle, one should avoid going for a road trip alone by driving or riding that vehicle.

I planned my trip for Nepal, then to Bihar and back to home. My two friends also assured to accompany me and joined me for this trip. After procuring the required luggage, we started our journey. First night was spent at Haridwar and second night at Khatima. From Khatima we entered Nepal through Banbasa. After entering Nepal at Kanchanpur the required paper work was done, from the nearby market I purchased a mobile sim card. This whole process took about five hours. From Khatima to Chisapani is about one hundred & fifty kilometres. We spent our first night in Nepal at Chisapani. In Nepal at that time the weather was full of humidity. In Nepal we stayed at Chisapani, Butwal, Kathmandu and in a village (Unfortunately I forgot the name of this village). Names of my friends are Sh. Rajiv Devgan, he is retired as SDO from PWD Department and Sh. Daljeet Maan, retired as Deputy Director from Hospitality department Punjab. We spent about nine nights in Nepal. We entered India and reached at the Dharbhanga. Before we reached Dharbhanga, there are few interesting issues during our Nepal stay. These issues are required to be discussed here.

Actually, when we started, one more family, husband, wife and their son, accompanied us in their four wheeler vehicle. When we were to get the permit to enter Nepal some paper work was required to be done. The vehicle in which this family was travelling was having only temporary registration number and it was not allowed to enter Nepal. The formalities for entry are discussed in this video. They had to depart from that point and we proceeded ahead. We were advised to pay road tax in the transport office for the days mentioned in the permit.

We paid the required taxed. Now one more thing to be done was to get at least two sim cards for the network working in Nepal. Purchased two sim cards, now we could talk through mobile phones and both the bikes were in touch.

Now we were moving ahead towards Chisapani. https://indiabyroad.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/gopr4003-1.mp4 Before we reached Chisapani, we stopped for two three times on the way for tea, refreshment. By the evening we reached Chisapani. While on my tours, I usually write letters to my wife, friends. That night too, before having dinner, I wrote two three letters. Picture below is the scenic beauty on the way to Chasapani.

I will continue to write about my tours. Actually I am looking for how to insert pictures of my tours.
